Why a sparrow?

The thing that I forget most often when thinking about money is that God will take care of me. I do not need to hoard money ‘just in case’ God doesn’t come through for me. He has promised “that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28). The image that most speaks to me in reminding me of God’s provision is that of the sparrows (Matthew 10 or Luke 12). Jesus sends out his disciples with the words “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:29-31).
The second reason for using a sparrow for imagery is that whilst a bird relies on God for it’s tree, it still busies itself in doing the actual nest-building. When exploring topics of saving, the counter-argument to ‘God is in charge’ is ‘God has given me building blocks’.
Finally, as I thought though some possible topics to write about, there seemed to be a great many bird puns to use in titles... I’ll be honest, that settled it.
